Shahida Begum – Trainee Solicitor

Work and Clients

Shahida has joined Cooper Rollason as a Trainee Solicitor and is due to qualify in 2011.  Shahidahas a particular interest in exploring cases that may have resulted in a miscarriage of justice and has decided to specialise exclusively within criminal defence work.  She will also train with the firm to become an Accredited Police Station Representative. She currently deals with appeals, referrals to the CCRC and all aspects of prison law.

Education and Experience
Shahida obtained a law degree with honours at Wolverhampton University in 2006 and was winner of the Hein Fellener Johnston prize award for the most meritorious performance by a graduate.  Prior to joining Cooper Rollason, she worked in Shropshire for two years as a finance specialist, in addition to volunteering at Shropshire’s busy CABx, where she completed the Generalist Advice Work certificate.  Thereafter, she went on to study at Wolverhampton University, where she attained a distinction in the Legal Practice Course.

Interests
Shahida is a member of the Junior Lawyers Division and in her free time undertakes pro bono work. Shahida’s meticulous approach to her work, ability to inspire and determined attitude are attributes that ensure clients interests are advance and protected.  She is a very family oriented person and thoroughly enjoys travelling, music festivals and playing tennis.
